Ice Cream Blast at Spring Valley UMC

TO:  John & Joanne Fristoe  at jefristoe@gmail.com

The second annual ICE CREAM BLAST is coming to Spring Valley UMC on this Saturday, July 20th from 4pm to 7pm !!!

This year's IC Blast will follow along the lines of last year's successful event, except the size of the ice cream scoops will be much larger!

Bring the whole family because it's designed for all ages- really good food - several Cake Walks, a fish pond for the little kids, cornhole toss, a basketball shooting game and more.

Even if you don't like homemade ice cream, there's pulled pork sandwiches and the Spring Valley church's famous chicken patty sandwiches.

Make plans now!! There's no cost, but donations will be appreciated to support Schneider House, Red Bird, Henderson Village, St. Paul and UMCOR.

As seen by the attached photo, the new steel I-Beam lintel in now in place.
It will be completely covered from view when the new ceiling work is done, and we can enter the sanctuary knowing that potential problem is behind us.

Now the construction turns back to the Sanctuary Lift and the remodeled entry area.

The attached photo, taken on Wednesday, shows the latest construction activity in the Sanctuary Lift project.
Actually, the Lift project itself is on hold while a structure defect is being repaired.

In the process of tearing out the wall/ceiling to accommodate the Lift, the work exposed  the supporting Lintel over the entrance to the sanctuary. It has a crack in it and needs to be replaced.
(This is part of the original 1906 construction and who knows how long the crack has been there.)

Knisley Construction, who have the contract for the Sanctuary Lift, is doing the repair work and as the photo shows - the temporary support is in place and ready to tear out and replace the lintel with a permanent support.

Meanwhile, we continue to hold the Sunday morning service in the Fellowship Hall and hopefully the construction work will soon turn to finishing the Sanctuary Lift .

(Most of you know all of this, but the out-of-towners may not)
