Food Court Workers Need To Be Signed Up By Aug 01

After a brief summer break, the Common Cup Food Court resumes on September 8th.
Virginia will start mapping out the worker schedules on August 1st.

Those of you who worked over the past months are receiving  (in the mail) a record of your  personal preferences which you indicated for the just past Food Court schedule.

You need to review those preferences and determine if they remain the same for the upcoming Food Court weeks.

There are 4 areas on the sheet which needs your review:

  1. Do you still want to work at the same jobs as you did before?
  2. Do you still want to work on the same frequency schedule as you did before?
  3. If you indicate that you can supply desserts (in Step 1), is the frequency/specific Wednesday still the same?
  4. If you had indicated certain Wednesdays which you could not work/donate desserts (for instance the 2nd Wed in December) - then,  are those dates still the same?

Look over the preference schedule which you received in the mail and if the answer is "yes" to the 4 questions above (ie., you would want Virginia to schedule you with your same preferences as last time) - then  YOU DO NOT NEED TO REPLY.  Virginia will match your last session preferences as best she can.

If you need to change your work preferences, please plainly mark out the preference you want to change and check your new preference.  If you cannot work at all, just write that on the sheet.  Mail all you Preference changes to:

Virginia Pinkerton        or   drop off at Faith Community church
3676 Cortsville Rd.
Cedarville, OH 45314

If you have not been a volunteer to work at the Food Court and you would like to volunteer, we have provided a signup Preference sheet  [CLICK HERE] which you can print out, fill out and mail to Virginia (see above).

If possible, please return it by Aug. 01.

As soon as Virginia completes her scheduling, it will be posted on our website and receive an email/postal mail copy.

Common Cup Room at IHN is Complete & Furnished

The Common Cup Bedroom at the IHN Family Center is complete!
IHN Family Center on South Detroit Street in Xenia

Almost two years ago the Common Cup Council voted to adopt a bedroom at the

IHN, also known as Interfaith Hospitality Network, supports homeless families in Greene County.  IHN provides families with a place to live and food to eat until they are able to secure permanent housing.

Our commitment to this bedroom involved making a donation of two thousand dollars, renovating the bedroom, and providing furniture and linens.
The money for the project came from our Wednesday night Common Cup meal earnings.
Numerous people from our churches were involved in cleaning, painting, and sanding the room.  This week Leanna and George Anzek bought the furniture, bed spreads, pictures, and valence.  The colors are a combination of white, green, and orange.  The quilt hanging over the chair was donated by Genevieve Jones. The quilt adds a personal touch to this very nice room.  It will be a place where a family will call home for a short time.    (Matthew 25:34-40)

A deep and heartfelt thank you for all those who were involved in this project.  May your service be a blessing to families for years to come.

Yours in Christ,
Deacon Rick

Special Seminar For United Methodist Men

Here is an opportunity for all men to attend an event at Ginghamsburg United Methodist church:  a West Ohio Conference United Methodist Men retreat.

The Todd Braschler Ministries will be there in a morning/afternoon retreat, discussing men's leadership opportunities in the church.

The theme is titled, "A Man Fully Alive" led by Todd Braschler himself.

John Sherer, president of the District UMM, is encouraging all men, sons or  grandsons 14 and up in the Common Cup area to attend.

The attachment [Click Here] gives some details and a registration form which needs to be sent in by July 30th.

"In this experience, that comes to you and your church, four challenges lead men in one simple direction - if God truly has a vision for me for a life to the full, here are four strategies toward that fully alive man"
-Quote from Todd Braschler's "A Man Fully Alive"
