A Night Out For Food Court Vollunteers

After another successful "season" of the Common Cup Food Court, some of the volunteers had a "Night Out" at the LaComedia Dinner Theater.

The occasion was last Wednesday night - and what do you imagine was on the playbill?  It was a play called "Church Basement Ladies"

It was about a church basement kitchen and the women who prepare meals there - WOW- would you say it was a busman's holiday for the Food Court group?

The play, a musical comedy, was very good, not to mention that the buffet was excellent.

Our CC website has posted a few photos of the group as well as a few samples of WDTN Channel 2's viewpoint.  CLICK HERE.

A Thank You From The IHN Project Manager

Don Schneider, Renovation Manager of the IHN Hotel project, sends this Thank You message:

Hi All,

It has really been a long time since I sent an update to all of you volunteers who helped in the IHN Hotel renovation in Xenia.  I thought you all would be glad to hear that today WE PASSED OUR LAST AND FINAL INSPECTION.  We should be receiving our Occupancy Certificate in 5 to 10 working days!!!

This has been a long time in coming but we have finally reached it!!  We will be doing some final cleaning and then as soon as we receive the Occupancy Permit we will start moving in our furniture.

We  could not have done it without all of your help!!!!  We really appreciate all of the work all of you volunteers did for us, you each should feel a piece of satisfaction in this milestone.  THANKS YOU SO VERY MUCH.

You are invited to come to our DEDICATION AND OPEN-HOUSE WHICH WE PLAN TO HAVE ON AUGUST 1, STARTING AT 2 PM.  Current plans are to have a free spaghetti dinner where we will receive free will donations.  Plan on coming.

Thanks again for all of your help.

Don Schneider
Renovation Manager

Common Cup Room At IHN Is Ready

IHN Update
Many thanks to Bill Turner of Faith Community United Methodist for deep cleaning the Common Cup bedroom at the IHN Family Center.

The room is ready and will receive furniture this week.

IHN (Interfaith Hospitality Network of Greene County) is waiting for county inspections.
They hope to open near the beginning of July.

This building process has taken 7 years to complete.  The work was completed with 28,000 volunteer hours.

Cheryl Carter (IHN Executive Director) said, "This is a house built by faith all for the glory of God."  More updates will come as we get closer to their opening.

Please be in prayer if you would like to serve as a meal provider or overnight host after the family center opens.

Cheryl thanks those who supported the IHN golf fundraiser event.  They raised close to $50,000.

Yours in Christ,
Deacon Rick

PS.  The pics are of the Common Cup bedroom.
