Tour of Churches Coming Soon!

It seems kind of appropriate to plan the Tour of Common Cup Churches directly after Easter.

It is those very buildings which have furnished the atmosphere for Holy Week- that sacred time of divine grace- not only for us but for many generations past.

So for the next two Sundays after Easter, the 15 Common Cup church buildings will be open to let us enjoy the tradition and beauty of these United Methodist sanctuaries.

Here is the lineup:

On Sunday, April 11th, these churches will be open from 1pm to 5pm: Bellbrook, Spring Valley, Richland-Crumley, Sharon, Zoar, Eleazer, Lumberton & Port William.

On Sunday, April 18th, these churches will be open from 1pm to 5pm:  Evangelical, Union, New Jasper, Jamestown, Cedarville, Oldtown & Faith Community.

The church dates are split up to provide time to visit all 15 churches (hopefully).

The tour is self guided so that you may visit in any order.

There are maps available which suggest driving routes, attempting to minimize the driving time.

To obtain the maps for both the April 11th (south lineup) and the April 18th (north lineup) tour, go to the special page on our website or simply click HERE.

RINGS Class Offered At Wednesday Night's Common Cup

The Growth Groups are still going strong as they assemble after the Common Cup Food Court meal on Wednesday nights.

The one group meeting I would like to emphasize in this newsletter is a Relationship Education  class called RINGS.

It is designed for addressing the major adjustments of two people coming together ( such as those  who might be dating, engaged, newly wed, happily married, struggling, divorced , separated, or  cohabitating)

The class was developed by the Marriage Resource Center of the Miami Valley but is being held right here in our Common Cup community by our own Becki Robinson and husband, Pastor Rex.

The class is scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 pm on April 7,14, 21 & 28 ( directly after the Wednesday night Food Court)

For an informational poster, click HERE.
You can print it out and post in on your bulletin board and such.

And one other thing, where can you find this type of instructive seminar for $20 per couple ( notice I didn't say $20 each?)

Common Cup Church Tour in April

The Common Cup Council has arranged for a Sunday afternoon tour of its member churches.

In fact, it will cover two Sunday afternoons to give us plenty of time to visit each of the 15 churches.

The tour dates are April 11 and April 18 with 8 churches open on April 11th and 7 churches open on April 18th with hours from 1pm to 5pm.

The attached promotional flyer, prepared by Joan Baxter, gives details including which churches will be open on which date.  Click HERE to view it.

We request that you print copies of the flyer and post them on your bulletin boards to help get the word out.

There is such a great bond between this circle of United Methodist churches, not only in doctrine but in church history and family history!  What a great opportunity to have the church members show us around.

Ham Dinner at Cedarville UMC

On Thursday night, March 25th, the Cedarville UMC will hold their annual Ham Dinner.

According to the church historian, Jane Mills, the church originally started serving a dinner called "Ground Hog Dinner"  The members would roast a whole hog, grind up the sausage for a sausage dinner- hence "Ground Hog Dinner" (get it?)
After so many years, the hog deal became too complicated and it evolved into a Ham Dinner .

Mark your calendar for March 25th with hours 5pm to 7:30pm.
Admission is $8 (children under 10 are $4 - a family ticket is $20)

Click HERE for an Informational Flyer.
Please run a copy of the flyer and post on your Bulletin Board to help promote Cedarville's event.
